I initially followed along on Instagram last October as Jennifer and Piper posted 31 days of fabulously eerie stories and corresponding illustrations leading up to Halloween (so much fun!). I was thrilled to hear I could purchase the complete project as a published book! Believe me, I ordered my copy as soon as it became available! Spooky, dreamtastic pictures; quick, creeptastic narratives. This book totally takes me back to that vibe. Each story is a clever, fun, spine-chilling tale with a related simplistic yet spellbinding illustration. The best part is that is has the added bonus of backstories so you get the authentic viewpoint of the author and artist which is such an awesome and unexpected addition. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kate -- Spooky Season Perfection : I’ve been following Piper for a while and have always been so inspired by her art, and seeing last year’s Halloween art and story series with Jennifer Newman had been continued this year via a book being published, I was stoked! The stories are so lovely to slip into and enjoy, and the art is truly such a treat to immerse yourself within as well. Will definitely be buying more for gifting to a few people in my life! With my birthday right before Halloween, I’ve always loved horror(watched my first horror movie at 5 and was hooked)so this was perfect for me. Her art is fantastic and so unique. I was really impressed with the way they were able to connect the stories and artwork. However there is a problem with the printer. At the end of each night we huddled in the tent, in the middle of the woods, flashlight in hand, and read some spooky tales. The stories are so well crafted and the breathtaking art does wonders in supporting the tone. Those special moments were a highlight of the trip. I’m so happy with this purchase! - 5.0 out of 5 stars from chloe-rebekah -- beautiful and creepy : firstly (and this is directed at amazon not the artist or author) the package arrived badly damaged and half open, and the book itself had damage to the top corner and pages. i ended up smoothing the pages and placed heavy items on top to flatten them back out. this was pretty disappointing as the book itself is beautiful!
